The National Gas Emergency Service is available 24 hours a day on 0800 111 999, free to call. Use it for a suspected gas or carbon monoxide emergency, or a damaged gas pipe.
For a power cut in Great Britain, call 105 free to reach your local electricity network operator. The network operator looks after the cables delivering electricity to your premises.

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, call 0800 111 999 and follow the emergency service’s advice.
Avoid flames and switches.
Do not smoke, light matches or use a naked flame. Do not turn electrical switches on or off.
Let fresh air in.
Open doors and windows. Turn off the gas at the meter’s control handle unless the meter is in a cellar.
Call the gas emergency service.
Telephone 0800 111 999 immediately. If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds or you suspect carbon monoxide, leave the property and wait for the emergency service’s advice before returning.
Power out?Start with 105.
Call 105 to report a power cut in England, Scotland or Wales. The service connects you to your local network operator, who can advise on the outage and the work needed to restore power.
